Dylan has just lost his Grandmothers Gold necklace in the shallow waters of Tamarama Beach, while playing foot ball with his mates. Dylan explained this is NOT just any lost gold chain (my grandmother wore it when she passed away, it's MOST important to me) I explained to Dylan that gold chains can be difficult to find however my XP Deus ll metal detector will find it. Unfortunately I have to be honest where you lost your grandmothers chain is on the decline slope of the beach in the southern corner where there is a consistent powerful rip pulling sand and everything with it back into the ocean. Luckily this chain has both some thickness to her and weight which works in our favour luckily. I got down to Tamarama Beach to meet Dylan within 45 minutes of our phone call. Dylan we don't have much time mate as the tide is coming back in fast, let me know how far north and south. I'll then place my grid marker and work my magic for you. I set up my XP Deus ll Metal Detector and grid line pole on the far East side in the water, the waves crashing on my legs are strong and the power of the rip is concerning me as I watch the sand get sucked back into the ocean I keep positive thoughts as I've done this 1,000 times before successfully. Just 10 minutes into the search I get a T.ID reading of the low 30's usually this is aluminium foil trash however with over 100 years of experience haha, I know for a fact GOLD chains hide in this T.ID range. As I continue to swing my metal detector over this target the T.ID does NOT change, Now I wait patiently for a break in the waves right now this target is safe BUT if I dig it and a wave hits me, I could lose it. A minute goes by here's my chance, first dig I just missed it I quickly dig again and BINGO just as I'm pulling up the shovel both Dylan and I notice part of his Grandmothers Gold chain is just hanging off the end of my scoop. I run out of the water to safety of dry sand ensuring the chain is NOT lost again. Dylan shouts out in joy THANK YOU Michael THANK YOU. You are most welcome Dylan, I can't explain how much my grandmothers chain means to me. It will be the last time I take it in the water, Dylan can I suggest you add a small pendant to the chain. It can be gold or silver the size of a 5 cent coin or bigger is better, WHY? good question, lost Gold chains are tricky to find especially at depth, if you fix a pendant to her I can find her easier and at greater metal detection depth, think of it as a security measure just in case you ever lose her again.
